Latest Sightings

As on the last post, my latest sightings are on 30th & 31st March. The 30th March sightings lasts more than half a day, with the halo can be seen as early as 7 am until as late as 2 pm. This is one of my clearest and longest sighting of a halo. And on the 31st, it's not as clear as on the 30th, it's pretty much very faint, but just visible enough with the naked eye, and I need to check it out on my camera to make sure.

Here are some photos of it... Enjoy!

Documented Halos + Some Photos

Welcome back! Well, so in this post I'm going to tell you the sightings that I have documented since my first sighting on 25th of November 2011 to date.

Here's by far my documentation told me :
2011
November - 25th
December - 4th, 6th, 20th, 24th

2012
January - 17th-19th, 24th, 26th, 27th
February - 3rd-6th, 11th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 22nd
March (ongoing) - 3rd, 4th, 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 28th, 30th, 31st (today!)

Most of these sightings were for the usual 22-degree radius sun/moon halos, but I also have other arcs that I have seen, such as Upper Tangent Arc (UTA) on 5th & 21st of February '12, the 22-degree sundog on 20th December '11. There's also a parhelic circle captured on 3rd March '12. I hope I could see something more majestic, such as a Circumzenithal Arc (CZA) or Parry Arcs, but I guess my chances are limited in the tropical region where I live, though.

So here are some of my best photos of halo that I have taken... Enjoy!

The 22-degree radius moon halo and the corona, taken on 11th March, 2012.

The parhelic circle, taken on 3rd March, 2012.

The 22-degree radius halo, taken on 21st March, 2012.

The 22-degree radius halo and an upper tangent arc, taken on 21st March, 2012.

The 22-degree radius halo and a faint upper tangent arc, taken on 5th February, 2012.

The 22-degree radius halo and two sundogs/parhelion, taken on 20th December 2011.

An Obsession - Halo!

Hello everyone~~ It's been a long, long time since I updated this blog. I guess I'm too busy with college, or playing games too much to care about this silly blog of mine~~ The thing is, I have an obsession nowadays. If you've already seen my deviantart, this post is going to have the same topic with it - "halos". No, not an Indonesian language form of "hello", but an optical phenomenon. Yes, I'm obsessed with it. I'm awed by it's beautiful colors, of how it encircles the sun, and even probably have some more to offer! There's a good web if you're interested in it - atoptics.co.uk. There are a whole loads of explanations about halos there...

Probably from now on, I'm going to change what I'm going to post here - I 'm going to update on halo sightings that I saw from where I am. Well, currently I'm at Bandung, so probably most of it will come from there anyways. So, wait for my next posts, cause I'm going to upload many of my halo sighting photos from my laptop!

Hope you enjoy my blog~~!
